Red Cross Pays Tribute To Lubbock Tornado Survivors, Rescue Workers
Wednesday marks the 35th Anniversary of the tornado that ripped through downtown Lubbock, killing 26 people.
On Friday the American Red Cross paid tribute to those victims, reading the names of each victim. The tornado caused widespread damage, calling on hundreds to volunteer their efforts. The Red Cross presented a number of awards to those hard-working citizens Friday.
"It had an affect on me to the point that I taught all five of my kids to be survivors that they had to be prepared for everything," said Petrice Franks, a tornado survivor.
Starting Monday, NewsChannel 11 will begin a three night series focusing on the survivors of May 11, 1970.
