Fallen Astronaut Honored In Lubbock Reception

Saturday at ten a.m. Lubbock will unveil its tribute to fallen astronaut and Coronado graduate Willie McCool. On Friday night, his family, friends and NASA representatives honored his name with a reception at the Merket Alumni Center.

McCool was one of seven astronauts killed in the space shuttle Columbia tragedy. The fifteen foot statue is bronzed in his likeness and will stand at Huneke Park. Everyone is invited to the statue dedication Saturday at Huneke Park, located at 82nd and Nashville. It starts at 10 a.m.
