Possible Rabies Exposure In Local Adopt-A-Thon

A rabies alert could effect hundreds of Lubbockites.

The City of Lubbock Health Department is searching for anyone who handled an Australian Shepherd mix puppy at the Lubbock Animal Shelter Adopt-A-Thon last weekend. The dog has tested positive for rabies and has already bitten one person.

The puppy was brought into the shelter last Saturday around Moon. It is described as a 7 to 8 week old female puppy, black/grey in color with a long tail and medium length hair, similar to the one shown here.

The Lubbock Health Department is looking for the woman who brought in the stray dog and for anyone who may have had contact with it during the Adopt-A-Thon.

If you have any information about this dog, or if you think you were exposed, call Animal Control at (806) 775-2712.
