A motorcyclist has died after a multi-vehicle crash.

The accident happened around 6:30 pm at the intersection of 50th Street and Indiana Avenue.

A least four vehicles were involved, including a motorcycle. One person was injured.

The driver of the motorcycle, Sammy Castaneda, 50, was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police Castaneda was stopped at a red light facing eastbound on 50th when a truck hit Castaneda from behind. Mutliple witnesses say the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The impact sent both vehicles into the middle of the intersection where they hit two other vehicles, an SUV and another truck, that were traveling northbound on Indiana.

Traffic was being diverted in the area. Accident investigation personnel are currently on scene.

We will continue to update this story as we learn more details.
