LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Siegel family has been through a lot this past year. But they are using their tragedy to help others.

The Team Luke Tennis Classic concluded today at the McLeod Tennis Center.

$65,000 was raised to help with Luke Siegel's medical fund.

During the check presentation, the Siegel family announced the formation of the Team Luke Foundation. It will benefit families with children suffering from traumatic brain injuries.

"This is the perfect thing for me," says Luke's father, Tim Siegel. "To be able to help families, to be able to help children...to be able to help in a financial way, an emotional way, any way, speaking, you name it. I wanted to be there for others, because I know what this has been like."

Tim is led the Texas Tech men's tennis program for 23 years. He currently the head coach for the Lubbock Cooper High tennis team

All proceeds from next year's planned tennis classic will also go to the Team Luke Foundation.

Luke was in a golf car accident in July 2015 and suffered life-threatening injuries to his head and chest. Amazingly he survived.
