Texas Tech didn't get the bounce back performance that they wanted in week 3, and Kliff says the defense's performance doesn't meet his standard.
"Not good enough, obviously. I thought when they come down right before half and scored, I thought we didn't recover. It was the same time of adversity that we faced last week, when we recovered the fumble and it got called back. So defensively when stuff goes wrong we got to be able to stand up and we haven't been able to prove that yet," Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
But after saying all of that, does Kliff feel like the team improved from week 2 to week 3?
"The thing that disappointed me was the bad play call and us not putting them away. Then letting them back in the game. They wanted to run the ball and run the clock out and we let them pop a run out. Then we let them go score, then the score is 35-17. That was disappointing, but we found a way to go win the game. That was a great football team, Coach Holtz did a great job offensively and you have to give them credit," Kingsbury said.
Now heading into their bye week before Big XII conference play, Kliff says the team has a lot to improve on.
"Just a letdown in the first half, and then towards the end of the game really. I think if you take away a couple of drives in the 4th quarter, when we blew our coverage and then let that one at the end of the first half. I think everyone is feeling better about it, I know defensively. Then we should have scored before the end of the first half, offensively. So we got to be better finishing half's," Kingsbury said.
