Hepatitis A Outbreak in Dickens County

There are 12 confirmed cases of Hepatitis A around Dickens County and officials with the Texas Department of Health still can not find the source.

Hepatitis A is easily passed from hand to hand contact, or from hand to food. So, the easiest prevention is frequent hand washing. There is also a vaccine to protect against Hepatitis A.

Early symptoms are easily mistaken for something else like muscle and joint aches, fever, headache, extreme fatigue, and most of all loss of appetite, and nausea.

If these symptoms continue for days, you need to see a doctor because, if untreated, Hepatitis can eventually lead to liver failure.
