As soon as Red Raider Coach Kliff Kingsbury stepped to the microphone for his Monday morning press conference, he was asked if there was an update on Patrick Mahomes' injury. Kliff immediately answered no.
He followed up saying he did not know if Mahomes would play Saturday.
"We kinda handle that day to day, every day he shows up. We'll do rehab and see if he gets there."

Pressed about the nature of the injury, Kliff didn't give much.
"It's a shoulder area injury. Let's leave it at that."
Kliff said different people react differently so he's hopeful Mahomes can be ready to go sooner than later.
If Nik Shimonek has to start, here's Kliff's thoughts on what he has to do facing Kansas State on the road 6pm Saturday night.
"Against this team protect the football. They don't make mistakes. "
Kliff says no backup QB has been decided on at this point.
"Not yet. Cross that bridge when we get there."
Kliff wouldn't even divulge if Mahomes will practice this week.
"We'll see its day to day."
After facing Kansas State, the Red Raiders return home to play Undefeated West Virginia at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 at Jones AT&T Stadium.
