LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Jamie Lopez has purchased a new mobility van after donations and support from the South Plains.

Lopez lives in Levelland and has muscular dystrophy.

Up until this purchase, Lopez traveled in a 1988 Ford Club Wagon that had nearly 400,000 miles on it.

His new van is a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Mobility Van with a wheelchair ramp.

Lopez posted his reaction to his new van on Facebook Tuesday evening:

“What a awesome day it's been a long time coming this journey has had it's ups and downs you have showed me love and support since day one attending my fundraisers you made this possible thank you all it's all a blessing!”

Lopez joked that his new van will change his life since there will be “no more driving 55.”

“This year I've faced some of my biggest battles, and I've learned to take nothing for granted,” he wrote. “Through all of it here I am still standing. Strength will be built through the struggle. God is always good!”
