Texas Tech homecoming week schedule of events

It is homecoming week for Texas Tech University, and events begin on Oct. 10 and will last through Oct. 15. The homecoming game against West Virginia kicks off at 11 a.m. at Jones AT&T Stadium.

The following information is provided by Texas Tech University.

Texas Tech Alumni Association Open House

McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center

The Texas Tech Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Board invites all alumni, family and friends to attend the Texas Tech Alumni Association Open House from 2-4 p.m., Oct. 14 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. Have your picture taken in front of the Official Texas Tech Ring sculpture, get your official TTU class ring cleaned and enjoy light refreshments in the McKenzie-Merket Anders Courtyard on the east side of the building. The McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center has been expanded and we would love for you to see it. Tour the Old President's Home, enjoy a stroll around the courtyard and browse our La Ventana collection in the Alumni Lounge. The event is free and open to everyone.

A Matador Evening

Join us for the 56th annual A Matador Evening on Oct. 14. The elegant event is a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting academic scholarships, faculty enrichment, local chapter efforts and alumni awards, as well as an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with classmates and friends during Homecoming week. A Matador Evening will begin at 6 p.m. in the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center and will be honoring John and Diane Scovell with the Lauro F. Cavazos Award and Stephanie Rhode with the Distinguished Service Award. Purchase tickets online attexastechalumni.org/matador-evening by Sept. 21.

Alumni College, held on Homecoming Weekend, is a chance to drop in and sample the work of current TTU humanities faculty. This year (second annual!), ten TTU humanities professors will share their research in a series of short TED-like talks on subjects ranging from bilingual signage to the Roman Empire to a history of higher education admissions quotas to girl culture to popular understandings of hormones in the US. Join us on October 15 at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center, starting at 11:00 a.m. Complimentary breakfast available; talks are come and go; you'll be out in time for the big game!

Doors open three hours before kickoff.
