LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Texas Tech University Presidential Lecture and Performance Series is welcoming Art Spiegelman to the Allen Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 21.

The artist, illustrator and author is the first guest of the Presidential Lecture Series 2016-2017 season.

Spiegelman is a Pulitzer Prize winner who studied cartooning in high school and began drawing professionally at just 16 years old. His award-winning work, "Maus," is a graphic novel that portrays Jews as mice and Nazis as cats.

Event organizers say, "His lecture will focus on how comics have evolved, the value of the medium and why it should not be ignored."

Tickets to the lecture are $18 and are available through Select-A-Seat

The Director of the Presidential Lecture Series stopped by KCBD to tell us why it is a show you don't want to miss.
