Two Lubbock residents are now behind bars after Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies said they found them in a stolen vehicle with what appeared to be stolen mail.

On October 16, deputies said they found 18-year-old Israel Ramirez and 26-year-old Marina Licon in a vehicle that was reported as stolen out of the City of Lubbock.

Deputies said they also found numerous pieces of mail that appeared to be stolen from homes both inside and outside the city limits.

According to court documents, most of the items of mail that appeared to have been stolen were bank statements, credit card statements, and other forms of mail that listed the victims' names and account numbers.

Licon and Ramirez told deputies the vehicle belonged to another man, who deputies knew was recently presented with two forgery cases for stealing checks from victims' mailboxes and then altering them and passing them to businesses as his own.

Licon also told deputies she knew about another stolen vehicle and mentioned a few others who had stolen mail, credit cards and checks.

Deputies said Licon had been arrested the previous week when officers found her in another stolen vehicle with other pieces of fraudulent information.

Deputies arrested Licon who is now charged with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information and theft.

Her bond is set at $2,500.

Ramirez is charged with theft, fraudulent use/possession of identifying information, and was also arrested on warrants for more theft charges.
