Monday, May 16th, Texas Tech students will lose hundreds of parking spaces.
The Marsha Sharp Freeway Construction Project closed stores in this Town and Country shopping area a few years ago, leaving Texas Tech students hundreds of parking slots. Come Monday, TXDOT is reclaiming those spaces to begin phase two of the Marsha Sharp Freeway project.
The dirt areas along Brownfield Highway on the north side of Campus will also be off-limits. Cars parked in these areas will be towed. Hastings customers can continue to park in front of the store.
Next fall, a 1,500 space parking lot will open southwest of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, but the price to park on campus will also be increasing 5%. One year residence hall stickers will increase from $139 to $146. Commuters stickers will go from $118 to $124 and satellite parking will jump from $75 to $79.
