A man who claims to be a member of the "Mexican Mafia" is one step closer to trial after he was indicted by a Lubbock County Grand Jury on Tuesday.

29-year-old Joshua Holguin was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police report, officers responded to Holguin's home in late August.

The report says Holguin's mother told officers she feared for her life after he threatened to kill her and then "kill and rape" all Christians.

The report says that after he was arrested, Holguin told officers he was a member of the "Mexican Mafia" and then threatened the officer who arrested him.

Holguin is also facing two other charges including assault and retaliation.

He remains behind bars on a $75,000 bond.
