CLEVELAND, OH (KCBD) -

As the Cleveland Indians enter the 2016 World Series (their only berth since 1997), former Texas Tech pitching standout Josh Tomlin aims to help his team win their first title since 1948. He will be the first Red Raider to play in the World Series.

Unless Cleveland pitcher Trevor Bauer's finger injury sidelines him, Tomlin is set to start Game Three of the series, which will begin Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. on FOX.

"That's going to be something else," said Tomlin. "I've never actually pitched in Wrigley Field, but we played there last year, so I've gotten to experience a game there. But I take it this will be a little bit different atmosphere than it was that day."

In his two postseason starts, pitching in both the ALDS and the ALCS, Tomlin has earned a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings. In these games, he struck out 10 opposing batters, keeping opponents' batting average to .184 in back-to-back postseason victories.

Tomlin, a native of Tyler, TX, led the league in walks per nine innings pitched at 1.035 this season. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.9 was second in the MLB in 2016.

Tomlin pitched one year at Tech before his 19th-round draft selection by the Indians in the 2006 MLB Draft. He is the longest-tenured player on the team's roster, helping the Indians to their first division title since 2007, the last year the team appeared in the ALCS.
