A viewer request. Rosalee asks, "Can you really call 677 on your cell phone in an emergency?"
She's referring to an email that's circulating about a woman with a highway emergency. It says "Luckily the girl listened to her parents advice and called 677 on her cell phone to reach a police dispatcher for help. The e-mail even says the phone company confirmed that 677 is a direct link to the dispatch."
It turns out that this does not work in Texas. The code number is not universal. Some states use #77 or 55, or 47, or even HP. Texas has no emergency code for cell phones. So, the police told us if you have an emergency on the road call 911 which works everywhere.
