We started with 80 area high schools and 16 are left in the Cheer Championship. Thanks to your votes at kcbd.com, Frenship, Lamesa, Abernathy, Dimmitt, Hermleigh, Lubbock Cooper, Spur and Seminole all advanced to the Sweet 16.

Those eight schools need to submit a cheer video as soon as possible. If we can get all eight by Tuesday, we will start voting Thursday Thanksgiving evening at 6 p.m. If not, we will start Friday at 6 p.m.

Up for the vote this week at kcbd.com/cheer

Sundown vs. Monterey
Sands vs. Patton Springs
Lorenzo vs. Estacado

With Thanksgiving, voting will remain open until 3 p.m. Friday with results Friday at 6.

In the end, the winning school earns $3,000 and each member of the winning cheer squad gets $500 scholarship to South Plains College.
