Lubbock SWAT Team Helps Bring Slaton Standoff To Peaceful End

Just after midnight on West Lynn Street in Slaton, a neighbor alerted police to a domestic disturbance. When Slaton police arrived, a shot was fired from inside the home.

The SWAT Team then responded and fired pepper balls and forced into the house and forced the woman out. 32-year-old Sherry Deann Thompson surrendered. She claims she was assaulted by her common in law husband.

Thompson was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Upon her release, she faces charges of deadly conduct for firing the gun.

The husband meanwhile, 45-year-old Irvin Washington, returned home during the standoff and will be charged with assault.
