Several law enforcement agencies here on the South Plains will be able to buy new patrol vehicles thanks to a grant from Governor Rick Perry.
The awards include:
- $50,615 to the city of Slaton to purchase bulletproof vests and two patrol vehicles equipped with radios and video cameras.
- $26,100 to the city of Abernathy to purchase a police cruiser equipped with updated radio and video camera systems.
- $64,920 to the city of Muleshoe to purchase two patrol vehicles.
- $20,782 to the city of Lockney to purchase a police cruiser.
- $26,100 to the city of Ralls to purchase a patrol car equipped with a video camera.
Each year the governor's criminal justice division hands out millions of dollars to help in the fight against crime.
