LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Travis Holley, brother of legendary Buddy Holly, passed away Thursday night around 6:30 p.m., according to relatives. Holley was 89 years old.

His daughter, Travetta Johnson, posted her father's passing along with a photo of him and his brother, Larry, on her Facebook page. The post reads:

"My father Travis Holley (on the left) ate his last meal this evening at The Red Zone with his older bother Larry (on the right) my cousin Sherry, her husband, and me. About an hour later he passed away in his chair as soon as we arrived back at his home. It was unexpected, sudden, peaceful, and fast. I was kneeling beside him trying to hang on to him. But he was ready to go home to meet his Lord God and be reunited with his loved ones. He was always the most loving father a girl could have. I am so blessed and grateful. Daddy, I can't imagine this world without you. But I am happy for you to breathe freely and to sing again!"

Travis taught the rock and roll legend and Lubbock native Buddy Holly to play his first guitar chords.
