Lady Raiders to face Arkansas during SEC/Big 12 Challenge

LUBBOCK, Texas – As a part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to face the University of Arkansas on Saturday.

Tip-off is set for 3:02 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.

The Lady Raiders trail, 9-17, to Arkansas in the all-time series. This is the first meeting between the two programs since Texas Tech defeated Arkansas, 75-60, on Jan. 3, 2009.

The is the first year the Lady Raiders will participate in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. This is the second SEC opponent for Texas Tech this season. The Lady Raiders took No. 24 Texas A&M into overtime on Nov. 17, but came up short, 98-90.

Prior to this season, Texas Tech has not played an SEC opponent since the 2009-10 season. The Lady Raiders fell, 91-53, to No. 6 Tennessee in San Antonio, Texas.

This is the first meeting between the two programs since Texas Tech defeated Arkansas, 75-60, on Jan. 3, 2009. Arkansas holds the all-time record, 9-17.

Texas Tech enters the weekend coming off an 85-43 win over Prairie View A&M. Five Lady Raiders scored in double figures. Recee’ Caldwell and Brittany Brewer led the team with 16 points each. Larryn Brooks followed with 15 of her own, all coming off 3-pointers. Ivonne CookTaylor and Jada Terry rounded out the five, scoring 10 points each.

Arkansas enters the game undefeated (7-0) after a 57-50 win over Tulsa on Wednesday. Senior forward Jessica Jackson led the team with 22 points and nine rebounds for the Razorbacks.

UP NEXT

The Lady Raiders return home to host their 3rd Annual Education Day at the United Supermarkets Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 11am when they host Houston.
