Metropolitan Organization Sees Bigger Turnout In Final Funding Forum

The Metropolitan Planning Organization held its final public forum over the funding options for the Marsha Sharp Freeway Tuesday night.

About 50 people attended the forum at Crestview Elementary, which is a significant increase from the nine people that attended the first meeting.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization presented four options to fund the final phase of the Sharp Freeway. After hearing public input they'll decide which is the best option. Some of the plans could speed up the time it takes to complete construction, while others offer more funding in the long run.

We'll continue to follow this story and inform you of any decisions made by the board.

Construction on the Marsha Sharp Freeway is still ahead of schedule. But the current plan would mean the orange cones and speed zones don't disappear until the year 2022, but some other options are being considered.
