Carillon Retirement Home Resident Found Shot In Car

Lubbock Police were called to investigate a shooting at the Carillon Retirement Community Thursday morning.

The call came in around 11am when maintenance workers found a man wounded in his car. The man was 77-year-old Carillon resident. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. Police did find the weapon in the man's vicinity and at this point they say it appears the injury was self inflicted.

"At this point we are simply looking into all the circumstances surrounding the finding this morning, we don't know who all was around, who all he might have spoken too and those are the things we're going to try to find out," said Lubbock Police Lt. Roy Bassett.

We will bring you the latest as the investigation unfolds.
