LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

According to ESPN, it is not clear if Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II off-season wrist surgery will affect his decision to enter the NFL draft.

The surgery is on his left wrist and will require rehab, according to the article on ESPN.com.

Mahomes is Mel Kiper Jr's number two-ranked quarterback prospect for the 2017 draft.

Mahomes injured his wrist during the TTU vs. Oklahoma game in October where the Red Raiders lost 66-59. Mahomes played through the final five games with the injured wrist and a right shoulder sprain.

Mahomes finished the season as the nation's leading passer, with 5,052 yards.
