LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - It is the Christmas season and the spirit of giving is alive and well in Lubbock, Texas. The U Can Share food drive raised $187,000 and more than 351 thousand pounds of food...and still counting. But that's just one way that Lubbockites give this time of year.
Churches, Salvation Army, Christmas is for Kids, United Way, Red Cross and many, many others provide avenues for giving your time and your money.
I've heard of families who spend Christmas morning delivering food or toys to the less fortunate. Others have strangers in their homes for a Christmas meal.
I am proud to live in a community where this spirit is exhibited every day. It is taught in families and exemplified by individuals and businesses alike.
Consider This...I am thankful that we can help so many less fortunate have a gift or a good meal this time of year.
And whatever role you play in that, from bringing a can of food to ringing a bell, I thank you and wish you a Merry Christmas!
