Bank Fraud Trial Begins in Federal Court

A former Lubbock ISD school board member and a former bank president are on trial for allegedly trying to defraud State National Bank from 1997 to 2000.

Monte Hasie, faces 34 counts of bank fraud, making false statements to a bank and money laundering. Frank Darden faces 32 counts. He was also found guilty on 21 counts in a separate money laundering and bank fraud case last month. The other men accused in the State National Bank scheme, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud on Friday.

The plea gives Frank Thompson and Rick Thompson a maximum five years in prison.
