Road Check 2005 in Effect - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

All semi-trucks will be stopped and inspected on Texas highways this week.

It's part of a 72 hour program to make roadways safer. Tuesday through Thursday, DPS troopers will be stopping commercial vehicles to inspect safety equipment, check drivers licenses and seek out possible drug or alcohol use.

Last year, 157 drivers and 1,200 vehicles were removed from the service amid safety concerns.
