Governor Rick Perry says he's determined to help what he calls the state's most vulnerable citizens.
Tuesday, Perry signed Senate Bill 6. It's a plan to revamp the state's protective services for children and adults. He signed the bill at a Child Protective Agency office in Arlington.
The bill sets $250 million aside for CPS reform and it will allow for the hiring of an additional 2,500 caseworkers. "These individuals will be better trained, better compensated, better focused on the primary mission of protecting the most vulnerable in our society," say Governor Rick Perry.
The bill also provides for an additional $34 million for the Adult Protective Services agency.
