Food for Thought Report 6.10

Signs say "The heat is on" inside the Subway at 1308 Broadway, but employees are keeping their cool and doing everything right. This location had no critical violations during their last health inspection. Subway is a favorite for healthy subs; fast and affordable, and they're our first top performer.

Here is a complete list of the restaurants and their violations for the week ending on 6/10/05.

If it's pizza and calzones your taste buds are craving, Giorgio's Pizza is another safe place to fill up. Giorgio's is a repeat top performer who skipped a beat the last time we visited them, but they're right back on track. Owner George Aboushadid says, "We've been a top performer four times before and last time we had a couple blemishes and we fixed them up.  We're back on top and we're happy about that."

Aboushadid's pizza joint is 13-years-old this month, and they've had 13 years to perfect a delicious calzone that alone is enough to keep customers coming back. Aboushadid says, "Our customers are our friends. They've been coming since day one so we know them on a first name basis.  We had a huge line out the door today."

Finally, what meal would be complete without dessert? Sugarbakers at 4601 South Loop 289 is our last restaurant to show health inspectors perfection. They too are a top performer. They've got healthy food, sandwiches, plenty of yummy cakes and their chocolate chip cookies are to die for!
