Severe weather is forcing thousands of animals from their homes.
The South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center has been busy treating injured birds, squirrels and raccoons. Hail and strong winds have knocked the animals from their nests. Heavy rains have flooded the ground dwelling animals from their homes. Manager Debbie Tennyson says, "Look for nests that have been blown out of the trees. You might look in those to see if there are any nests or any babies left in the nests that need rescuing. If you see any animals that are wet and cold on the ground, by all means those need rescue."
If you find a wounded animal you can take it to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at 95th and Indiana or call 799-2142.
