Faulty Latch Blamed in Death of Firefighter

New information in the death of Amarillo firefighter and Lubbock Cooper Graduate Brian Hunton.

A police investigation has found that a malfunctioning latch on a fire truck door caused Hunton to fall from the fire truck in April. Hunton hit his head on the pavement and died two days later. According to truck inspection and maintenance request, the door had a history of problems dating back to 1998.

Thousands of fire fighters marched through the streets of Lubbock to pay their respects to Hunton. He was buried in Resthaven Cemetery.
