LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Science Spectrum is showing the Extreme Weather film at 2:00 and 5:00 pm Friday, March 3rd ahead of Severe Weather Awareness Day on Saturday.

KCBD spoke with Sean Casey, the director and one of the producers of the film, who says they wanted to create a film that captured the true visuals of extreme weather.

Casey and his team traveled to different parts of the country, showing how all types of weather connect with each other.

"We chase tornadoes in the film, in our armored vehicle, and we got footage, of course, extremely close to these storms and tornadoes, and then we covered the wildfires in California, and then we covered the glaciers that are melting in Alaska, so you know some very compelling visuals," said Casey.

The film will have additional show times during Severe Weather Awareness Day at the Science Spectrum on Saturday, March 4th. The event is free runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our KCBD First Alert Forecast team will also be at the event to participate in weather-related activities, teach about storm-tracking, and answer questions.
