Staffing is the biggest challenge any police department faces.
You've heard for years the Lubbock Police Department is in need of more officers.
But now, Lubbock can't say that anymore.
Police Chief Greg Stevens says the Lubbock department will be fully staffed with 435 officers following the start of the 2017 class.
That means more officers to be proactive and work on preventing crimes, like property theft.
Consider This: We have a Police Department and chief that gets it.
After a fair share of controversy in recent years, this chief is focusing on the needs of the department and the needs of our city.
He's expanding the budget to hire even more officers.
And here's a novel idea, he's fostering an atmosphere of transparency and building trust with the public.
Back the blue and back a chief who knows how to get things done.
