TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Alabama had played in National Invitational Tournament the past two years.

After the selection committee bypassed the Crimson Tide for the NCAA Tournament, the NIT welcomed them back with open arms for the third straight year.

Bama (19-14, 10-8 SEC) will take on Richmond at home in the opening round on Tuesday.

The Tide bowed out in the opening round last year against Creighton but made it to the second round in 2015 before losing to Miami.
