HOCKLEY COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

The Hockley County Sheriff's Office released the results of an autopsy on Tuesday, after an inmate was found dead on Monday morning.

61-year-old Jimmy Dale Taylor of Levelland was found dead in his cell around 5 a.m.

Detention officers found him nonresponsive and immediately called emergency medical services and the Texas Rangers.

After a Tuesday morning autopsy in Lubbock, the manner of death was ruled to be natural.

Mr. Taylor, 61, was being housed for a warrant issued related to a parole violation, and had been in custody for approximately 30 days awaiting a determination on his parole status.

Mr. Taylor was taken to an area clinic on March 2, 2017, after the jail received a request for medical treatment.  Mr. Taylor was prescribed medication commonly used to treat bacterial infections and pneumonia following that visit.

Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres released this statement on Tuesday: "We were obviously saddened by the situation, and we continue to offer prayers for Mr. Taylor's family and friends.  Our office will continue to cooperate fully with any and all inquiries into the matter."
