Governor Rick Perry Gives Students Voice In Texas Public Colleges

University students have been fighting for power for 30 years in Texas. Thursday, Governor Rick Perry gave students a voice.

The governor signed a bill that requires each public university to have a student regent. Chancellors will forward their nominations to the governor who will then appoint student regents. Students will offer perspective but will not vote. Giving a student regent voting rights would have required amending the Texas Constitution.
