New Statue Unveiled Mae Simmons Park

A new statue that stands at Mae Simmons Park represents a past time that brings back memories to many. The statue of a sandlot baseball player was unveiled Sunday near the park. Lubbock art teacher Vivian Cook, designed and sculpted the statue. She taught both City Council Members Floyd Price and Phyllis Jones. The Dunbar Manhatten-Heights Neighborhood Association and the Parks Department were instrumental in the event.
