Clovis PD: Sexual assault suspect posed as vacuum cleaner salesman

CLOVIS, NM (KCBD) -

An arrest has been made after a report of sexual assault in Clovis, NM.

Clovis police responded to the complaint around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

The victim told police that the suspect was conducting business as a vacuum salesman.

Clovis police conducted an investigation and placed the suspect under arrest.

Clovis police released this statement on Friday:

"The Clovis Police Department asks residents to be vigilant when it comes to opening up for door-to-door sales. While not illegal, it is required for companies who engage in door-to-door sales to obtain a business license with the City of Clovis. All residents are encouraged to ask to see a current business license from anyone attempting to sell goods or services before opening their doors."
