Names released for husband, wife killed in Slaton murder/suicide

LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

DPS has now released the names of the husband and wife killed in a murder/suicide that happened in Slaton on Saturday night.

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office responded to County Road 3460, east of Woodrow Road in Slaton, around 8:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived on scene. they discovered 52-year-old Leslie Covington deceased, having sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. 58-year-old Monte Covington was discovered a few feet away, also deceased, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. 

At the time of this shooting, the Covington's children, ages 10, 15, and 18, were within the residence and are not involved with the incident. 

They say this began as a domestic dispute.
