Firefighters battle house fire near Downtown Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Firefighters with the Lubbock Fire Department were on the scene of a house fire near the intersection of 16th Street and Avenue N. Officials with Lubbock Fire Rescue were told no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

Officials say the house at 1614 Ave. N was slated for demolition with the City of Lubbock. Because of the damage from the fire, the city will proceed with the demolition.

Lubbock Fire Rescue will remain on the scene to support fire suppression efforts during the demolition.

The fire started just after 2 p.m. and was under control just after 3 p.m. 

This is the second fire at this location in four months.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
