Texas Tech & Abilene Christian agree to 2 Game Football Series

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech announced Thursday the Red Raider football team will play Abilene Christian, with both games of the agreement being played at Jones AT&T Stadium in 2024 and 2026.

While the Wildcats agreed to come to Lubbock for both games, The school's agrees that both games will be season openers with the 2024 contest August 31st and the 2026 meeting will be September!

A press release from Texas Tech added that despite being separated by less than 200 miles, Tech and Abilene Christian have not faced each other on the gridiron since 1949 as the Wildcats moved to the NCAA Division II level shortly after the last meeting between the two schools. ACU most recently the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) prior to the 2014 campaign.

Texas Tech is 6-3 lifetime against Abilene Christian with the last meeting a 20-0 Red Raider shutout to open the 1949 season.
