Texas Tech softball makes history with Big XII opener win

AIMES, IA (KCBD) -

Texas Tech made an outstanding impression in their first Big XII game of the season.

Scoring 13 runs in the top of the 1st, the Red Raiders went on to roll past Iowa State 18-4 in five innings in Ames, Iowa on Friday night.

Those 13 runs made it the biggest inning for Texas Tech softball in a Big XII conference game in school history.

Devon Thomey went 2-3 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored and Brittany Warnecke went 3-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Texas Tech's 18 runs are the most they have scored in a game this season.

Now 1-0 in the Big XII and 14-14 overall, Texas Tech will face Iowa State again on Saturday.
