BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

After six years as the head football coach at Brownfield, Bryan Welps is returning to River Road, where he coached the six previous pigskin seasons.

Welps led River Road to the 2009 2A State Quarterfinals.

He guided Brownfield to 28 wins in his six seasons with the Cubs

Welps tells me it was an offer he couldn't refuse.

His rehiring at River Road will be official after a school board meeting Friday morning.

I wish Coach Welps and his family the best.
