Texas Boys Ranch celebrates opening of renovated horse arena

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Today the Texas Boys Ranch celebrated the opening of the newly renovated horse therapy center now called Cowboys and Angels Arena.

The arena used to only have a roof and was open air.

Now it is fully enclosed, which means they can do equestrian therapy all year long.

An exciting day for the folks working at Texas Boys Ranch.

"Everything can be closed off, or we can open everything up. So it really makes a difference. We’re going to have heat for the winter as well. So it’s not just going to be blocking the wind, we’re going to have a little heat to take the edge off," Texas Boys Ranch President John Sigle said. "And I think it’s going to be incredible. Yet we’ll continue to have the shade, we can open up the doors and continue to have shade in the summertime."

The children who stay at Texas Boys Ranch have weekly horse therapy sessions which help them with problem-solving skills among other things.

"They want to make a difference in the lives of these kids, this is one of the tools. The arena becomes an important part of that component that we use to try to reach our kids and make a difference," Sigle said.
