Fire On I-27 Leads To Two Crashes

Emergency crews responded to a fire near the airport on I-27 around 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses say a tank, used for welding, fell out of the back of a pickup truck and caught fire. Shortly after, a passing SUV lost control and hit a guard rail. That's when authorities decided to close the north-bound lanes of the interstate, which slowed traffic down considerably. That resulted in another accident between two cars.

One person was taken to UMC with minor injuries.
