LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Congressman Jodey Arrington hosted a U.S. Service Academy Forum in Lubbock on Saturday, to encourage students considering enrollment in Military Service academies.

The forum took place from 10 a.m to noon at the Science Spectrum. The goal of the forum is to allow students who are interested in attending one of the U.S. service academies to learn more about each of those institutions. In addition to Arrington, liaison officers from each academy where at the forum to answer questions.

“There is no greater honor than serving one’s country. For many, that calling begins at a Military Service Academy. Each year our office has the opportunity to nominate outstanding students from West Texas to each of the five military service academies in the United States," Arrington said in a news release. "I look forward to providing these forums as a way to encourage and inspire students to purse these unique service and educational opportunities."

The second forum is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon on April 22 at Cisco College in the Abilene Education Center.
