LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech has been ranked by Buffalo Business First as one of the top 100 public colleges in the United States.

Out of 499 public colleges listed, Tech is ranked no. 93, according to a university news release. Tech is only one of four other Texas universities in this that are ranked and has jumped 35 spots from their 2016 ranking of 128.

Schools ranked by BBF are those that offer the best educational experience for students based off data set by the National Center for Education and the five-year version of the U.S. Census Bureau's 2015 American Community Survey.

"This ranking includes a number of measures that reflect on the educational experience and success of our students," Lawrence Schovanec, Tech president, said. "Promoting student success  is one of our top priorities, so it's gratifying to see that we rose 35 positions over the last year."
