LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Ray Caldwell announced on Twitter he is no longer an Assistant Coach for the Lady Raiders.

Caldwell said, "I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity that the wonderful people of TTU provided me. At this point in my life, I've come to know that being a college coach at this level is not something I wish to be. My passion is in developing young basketball players in preparation for the collegiate level. I will miss the awesome young Queens that represent the Lady Raiders. Ultimately I absolutely love the 15 or so young women at TTU, but I yearn to help another 150+ youngsters eventually become them."

Before joining Candi Whitaker's staff, Caldwell has been a lead trainer and head coach at SA Finest Basketball, in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, where he formulated and implemented individual skill set developmental programs for hundreds of student-athletes and professional players.

He is the father of Lady Raider Recee' Caldwell and Lubbock Titan Desiree Caldwell.
