LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

An 8th grade student was found unresponsive behind the curtains in the auditorium at O.L. Slaton Middle School on Tuesday.

The call came in around noon.

EMS was called but they were unable to revive the female student.

No foul play is suspected, but there is an ongoing police investigation into the student's death.

Parents have been notified and the district will have crisis counselors at the school all week.

School officials are not commenting on the cause of the student's death at this time, but they say the girl was found alone.

She was found by a faculty member.
