CAUGHT ON DASH CAM: Lubbock Police Officer not at fault in crash

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

LPD's Accident Investigation Unit has completed their investigation into a crash involving a Lubbock police officer that occurred at 12:01 a.m on Frankford Ave.

Upon arriving officers found out Officer Belinda House, 35, was traveling in a LPD patrol vehicle northbound in the 9800 block of Frankford Ave. As she drove into the intersection, she crashed into a pickup truck, driven by 26-year-old Jordan Cypret, driving westbound on 98th

After reviewing the dash cam video and witness statements, investigators determined Cypret entered the intersection with a red light, and the light remained red when the two vehicles crashed.

According to LPD, the light for Officer House traveling north bound was green, and had just turned yellow when Officer House, who had the right-of-way, entered the intersection. LPD says that light remained yellow at the time of impact.

Officer House had moderate injuries in the crash and was taken via EMS to UMC. She was released from the hospital about 4 hours after the crash. Cypret had minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital by a personal vehicle.

The intersection was closed for a few hours while officers investigated. All lanes were reopened by 5 a.m. Thursday morning.
